Philadelphia area — found & refinished by hand
Every piece has a first story.
We give it a second.
Second Story furniture rescues solid wood furniture from curbs, estate sales, and Facebook Marketplace, then strips, repairs, and refinishes each piece by hand. Every finished piece is one-of-a-kind and posted as soon as it's ready.
Process
How a piece comes back
Every found piece goes through the same four stages. Nothing is rushed, and nothing is skipped.
-
01
Strip
Old finish, paint, and grime come off down to bare wood, so nothing is trapped under the new coat.
-
02
Repair
Loose joints reglued, veneer patched, hardware cleaned or replaced. Structure comes before shine.
-
03
Sand
Progressive grits smooth the surface and open the grain evenly, by hand on detail work.
-
04
Finish
Stain, oil, or paint applied in thin coats, sealed to hold up to daily use for years.

About
About the shop
Second Story furniture is a one-person operation based in Springfield PA.
Every piece starts as someone else's curb alert, estate sale find, or free listing on Facebook Marketplace — then gets stripped, repaired, and finished by hand. No shortcuts, no spray-booth assembly line.
Nothing here is made to order. Each piece is one of a kind, refinished because it was worth saving, and posted once it's done. If solid wood and good bones are still under there, it's worth doing right.

Where new pieces go first
Every finished piece gets posted to Instagram as soon as it's done — that's the fastest way to see what's available and claim one before it's gone.
